Sugata Roy has been appointed as Vice President – Circle HR Head at Vodafone Idea Limited, based in Bengaluru. In this role, he will oversee circle-level human resources strategy and lead people-focused initiatives for the telecom operator across a complex and dynamic business environment.
Roy brings wide-ranging HR leadership experience spanning telecom, automotive, logistics, retail, and FMCG sectors. His professional expertise includes HR business partnering, workforce transformation, talent strategy, and building scalable people practices within large, multi-location organisations.
Prior to joining Vodafone Idea Limited, he was associated with Hero MotoCorp, where he served as Lead HR Business Partner – Commercial Business & HR Digital Transformation, supporting domestic and international operations while driving digitisation of HR processes.
His earlier career includes senior HR leadership roles at VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd., TM International Logistics Ltd. (Tata Steel Group), Madura Fashion & Lifestyle (Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd.), and Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Pvt. Ltd. Across these assignments, he managed critical functions such as talent acquisition, succession planning, HR operations, employee engagement, and performance management.
