Balaji Narayanamurthy has joined IndusInd Bank as its new Chief Data Officer (CDO), strengthening the bank’s leadership in data, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
In his previous role at Axis Bank, Narayanamurthy led enterprise-wide data and AI strategy for a large-scale financial institution, overseeing the deployment of advanced analytics across credit underwriting, risk management, collections, and financial crime prevention. His work included the development of an extensive portfolio of analytical models and customer personalisation platforms serving tens of millions of users.
He brings additional global experience from his tenure at Barclaycard and Capital One (USA), where he worked across payments, fintech innovation, and cloud-native AI/ML architectures. Known for building high-performing teams and driving data-led transformation at scale, Narayanamurthy has consistently aligned advanced analytics with core business outcomes.
In his new role at IndusInd Bank, he will lead the institution’s data strategy, strengthen governance frameworks, and accelerate the adoption of AI-driven insights to support growth, risk management, and customer engagement initiatives.
