Surendra Choudhary IPS Appointed as Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

In a recent administrative appointment, Shri Surendra Choudhary, a 2013-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh–Goa–Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India. His posting is under the Central Staffing Scheme, with a fixed tenure of four years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Shri Choudhary has served in various strategic and operational capacities within the AGMUT cadre, handling responsibilities related to internal security, law and order, intelligence coordination, and public safety. His practical experience in policing and governance across diverse administrative terrains positions him well for a key role within one of the most vital ministries of the Government of India.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is responsible for India’s internal security, border management, Centre-State relations, disaster management, and coordination of paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies.
