Veteran Power Sector Leader Elevated to Executive Director at NTPC
Abhoy Kumar Mishra, Head of Project (HOP) at NTPC Limited‘s Dadri station, has been appointed as Executive Director (ED) of the company, marking a significant milestone in a career spanning more than 35 years in India’s power sector.
The elevation of Abhoy Kumar Mishra NTPC Executive Director reflects his long-standing contributions to power generation, plant operations, maintenance management, and operational excellence across several of NTPC’s major power stations.
More Than Three Decades of Service at NTPC
Mishra joined NTPC Limited as an Executive Trainee in the Mechanical stream on October 25, 1990.
Over the years, he has built extensive expertise across operations, maintenance planning, overhaul management, outage management, and long-term operational planning, contributing to the performance and reliability of multiple NTPC power stations.
His journey within the organization reflects a strong commitment to operational excellence and sustainable power generation.
Leadership Across Major NTPC Stations
During his distinguished career, Mishra has served at several key NTPC facilities, including NTPC Korba, NTPC Talcher Kaniha, NTPC Simhadri, NTPC Tanda, and NTPC Dadri.
Across these assignments, he managed critical functions related to plant operations, maintenance strategies, reliability improvement, outage planning, and generation efficiency.
Prior to his current role, he served as Head of Operations and Maintenance at NTPC Tanda, where he played an important role in ensuring high operational performance and plant reliability.
Strong Academic Foundation in Power Generation
Born in Odisha, Mishra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang.
He further strengthened his technical expertise by earning an M.Tech in Power Generation Technology from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
His academic background, combined with decades of practical industry experience, has contributed significantly to his leadership in the thermal power generation sector.
Driving Operational Excellence at NTPC Dadri
Mishra joined NTPC Dadri in May 2025 as Chief General Manager (Operations & Maintenance) and was subsequently designated as Head of Project.
On June 8, 2026, he was elevated to the position of Executive Director.
As Head of Project, he continues to lead initiatives focused on operational excellence, plant reliability, safety, efficiency, and sustainable power generation. His leadership remains instrumental in supporting NTPC Dadri’s contribution to India’s growing energy demand.
