PESB Selects Coal India Executive for Key Leadership Role
Anand is set to become the next Director (Technical) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal. The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended his name for the position following its selection meeting held on June 23, 2026.
Currently serving as Executive Director (Mining/Production) at Coal India Limited, Anand brings extensive experience in mining operations, production management, and technical leadership within India’s coal sector.
Selected from Among Nine Candidates
Anand was chosen from a pool of nine candidates who appeared before the PESB selection panel for the coveted board-level position.
The selection process included senior executives from leading coal and mining organizations, including Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), NLC India Limited, and Bharat Coking Coal Limited.
Following the recommendation, his appointment will move through the prescribed approval process before being finalized by the competent authority.
To Succeed Sanjay Kumar Singh
Upon appointment, Anand will succeed Sanjay Kumar Singh, who has been serving as Director (Technical) at BCCL since October 10, 2023.
BCCL plays a critical role in India’s coal production ecosystem and is the country’s primary producer of coking coal, a key raw material for the steel industry.
Key Responsibilities as Director (Technical)
As Director (Technical), Anand will serve as a member of the BCCL Board of Directors and report directly to the Chairman and Managing Director.
He will be responsible for overseeing mine operations, field activities, technical functions, production performance, and mine safety across the company’s operational assets.
His role will also involve driving operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening safety standards, and supporting BCCL’s production and growth objectives.
Strengthening Technical Leadership at BCCL
With decades of experience in coal mining and production management, Anand’s appointment is expected to further strengthen BCCL’s technical and operational capabilities.
His expertise in mining operations and production planning aligns with the company’s focus on improving productivity, enhancing mine safety, and supporting India’s growing energy and industrial requirements.
