The Government of Punjab has announced the transfer and new appointment of Shri Basant Garg, IAS (Punjab 2005). Shri Garg, who was serving as Administrative Secretary, Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Department, with additional charges of Secretary, Health and Family Welfare; Nodal Officer, Anti-Drug Campaign; Administrative Secretary, Horticulture; and Administrative Secretary, Soil and Water Conservation, has been transferred and appointed as Administrative Secretary, Power Department, Punjab.
In addition to his new role, Shri Garg will also hold the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, New & Renewable Energy Sources, and serve as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd. as well as CMD, Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd.
Garg, a 2005-batch IAS officer, has held several key administrative positions in Punjab and is known for his proactive governance initiatives across agriculture, health, and welfare sectors.
