In a significant push towards sustainable digital infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today laid the foundation stone for the upcoming CEL-ESDS Green Data Centre in Ghaziabad. The project, which involves a proposed investment of ₹1,000 crore, is being jointly developed by Central Electronics Limited (CEL) and ESDS Software Solution Ltd.
The state-of-the-art green data centre is poised to play a crucial role in supporting the state’s rapidly expanding digital economy, while also aligning with the government’s commitment to clean and energy-efficient technologies. Once operational, the facility is expected to enhance data security and storage capabilities for both government and private enterprises, while creating significant employment opportunities in the region.
Speaking at the event, CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of sustainable digital development. “This green data centre is not just a technological leap, but a strategic investment in Uttar Pradesh’s digital and environmental future. It will set a benchmark for eco-friendly innovation in India’s data infrastructure,” he said.
The Ghaziabad facility will integrate advanced technologies including cloud computing, AI-based monitoring, and renewable energy systems, making it one of the first large-scale energy-efficient data centres in North India. The project will be developed in phases and is expected to be completed over the next few years.
The initiative marks another milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s journey to becoming a digital-first economy and a preferred destination for tech and infrastructure investments.
