Sify Technologies Limited, a leading Indian digital ICT solutions provider, has announced the appointment of Dr. Ram Sewak Sharma as a Director on its Board.
A veteran administrator and technology policy leader, Dr. Sharma brings with him over four decades of experience in digital governance, telecom regulation, and public administration. His appointment is seen as a strategic move by Sify to strengthen its leadership as it scales operations across emerging technology domains.
Dr. Sharma, a 1978-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is best known for his role as the first Director General of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), where he led the development of Aadhaar, the world’s largest digital identity program. He also served as Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), where he played a pivotal role in shaping India’s telecom and data policy landscape.
Welcoming Dr. Sharma to the board, Sify Technologies stated that his expertise in technology-led governance and public sector transformation will be a valuable asset to the company as it expands its digital services footprint.
In his remarks, Dr. Sharma expressed enthusiasm about joining Sify, stating, “Technology, when applied at scale, has the power to transform lives and industries. I look forward to contributing to Sify’s vision of delivering secure, scalable, and inclusive digital infrastructure.”
Dr. Sharma holds advanced degrees in mathematics and computer science from premier institutions, including IIT Kanpur and the University of California, Riverside, and a Ph.D. from IIT Delhi.
His appointment is expected to bolster Sify’s efforts in driving innovation in cloud, network infrastructure, data center services, and cybersecurity across India and global markets.
