Government of India Announces Next-Gen GST Reform: A Historic Diwali Gift for the Nation

In a landmark move to enhance ease of living and accelerate India’s journey towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the Government of India has announced the Next-Gen GST Reform, offering significant relief across essential sectors including daily essentials, healthcare, agriculture, education, automobiles, and electronics.

The reform aims to bring happiness to households, farmers, enterprises, and businesses alike by rationalizing GST rates and making key products and services more affordable.

Key Highlights of the GST Reform:
🔹 Daily Essentials: GST on items like hair oil, shampoo, toothpaste, butter, ghee, and utensils reduced from 12–18% to 5%.
🔹 Healthcare Relief: Insurance premiums, thermometers, medical-grade oxygen, diagnostic kits, and corrective spectacles see GST cuts from 12–18% to 0–5%.
🔹 Support to Farmers & Agriculture: GST on tractors, tractor tyres, drip irrigation systems, and agri-machinery reduced to 5%.
🔹 Affordable Education: Maps, charts, notebooks, pencils, and erasers made GST-free.
🔹 Automobiles: Hybrid cars, CNG/LPG vehicles, three-wheelers, and motorcycles see rate cuts from 28% to 18%.
🔹 Electronics: Air conditioners, televisions (above 32”), monitors, projectors, and dishwashers made more affordable with GST slashed from 28% to 18%.
