India Releases AI Governance Guidelines for Safe Innovation

inclusive. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology released India AI
Governance Guidelines on February 15, 2026. This move supports the India AI Mission and prepares for the upcoming AI Impact Summit. A phased action plan sets timelines. Short-term steps build skills and classify risks. Medium-term adds voluntary codes and sandboxes for testing. Long-term brings laws for
high-risk areas and global ties. The guidelines build on existing laws like data protection
