Hyderabad, June 16, 2025 — In a key bureaucratic reshuffle, senior IAS officer Navin Mittal has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Energy Department, Government of Telangana. He takes over the role after serving as Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, where he played a pivotal role in modernising land records and streamlining revenue administration.
The move is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership in critical departments and accelerate infrastructure development. Known for his administrative acumen and technology-driven reforms, Mittal’s transition to the Energy Department is expected to bring renewed focus on efficiency, renewable energy integration, and project execution.
Mittal, a 1996-batch IAS officer, has held various leadership roles in higher education, revenue, and municipal governance. His appointment to the Energy Department signals the government’s intention to intensify its push towards power sector reforms and sustainable energy initiatives.
Sources within the administration suggest that the reshuffle is aimed at bringing in domain expertise and dynamic leadership to departments central to Telangana’s development agenda. Mittal’s experience in managing large-scale public systems is likely to support the Energy Department’s goals of ensuring energy security, reducing transmission losses, and expanding access to clean energy solutions across the state.
