Government Renames NIPCCD as Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development.
New Regional Centre to be Inaugurated in Ranchi on 4th July 2025
New Delhi, June 30, 2025 – In a significant step towards honouring India’s legacy of women’s empowerment and grassroots development, the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) has been officially renamed as the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development. The announcement was made by Smt. Annpurna Devi, Hon’ble Union Minister of Women and Child Development.
The renaming of the Institute pays tribute to Savitribai Phule, one of India’s most respected social reformers and the country’s first female teacher, whose contributions laid the foundation for inclusive education and social justice.
Marking another milestone, a new Regional Centre of the Institute will be inaugurated in Ranchi on 4th July 2025. This centre aims to enhance outreach and impact by equipping frontline workers, trainers, and community leaders with advanced tools, resources, and training.
“This new centre will not only empower our frontline functionaries with better access to training and support, but also strengthen our flagship missions at the grassroots level,” said Smt. Annpurna Devi, at the official briefing.
With the dual move of renaming and regional expansion, the government seeks to reinforce its commitment to the holistic development of women and children, while building stronger community-based systems to implement national welfare schemes effectively.
