Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has announced that 2025 will be observed as the ‘Year of Reforms’ by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), marking a major milestone in the modernisation of India’s Armed Forces. In a crucial meeting with MoD Secretaries, Shri Rajnath Singh outlined key areas of focus for the year ahead:

- Harnessing Emerging Domains: Focus on Cyber, Space, and cutting-edge technologies like AI, Machine Learning, Hypersonics, and Robotics, alongside developing new tactical approaches for future warfare.
- Optimising Acquisition Procedures: Simplifying and streamlining processes to ensure timely and efficient capability development.
- Public-Private Partnerships: Promoting technology transfer, knowledge sharing, and easier business processes between defence and civil industries.
- Fostering Collaboration: Breaking down silos and improving civil-military coordination to eliminate inefficiencies and optimise resources.
- Defence Exports & Global Partnerships: Positioning India as a leading exporter of defence products, fostering innovation and collaborations with international partners.
- Veteran Welfare: Enhancing support for veterans while tapping into their expertise for national security.
- Celebrating Indigenous Capabilities: Instilling national pride by promoting Indian culture and military capabilities, while learning from the best global practices.
