In a significant administrative development, Ms. Harleen Kaur, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2012 batch from the Arunachal Pradesh–Goa–Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Government of India. Her appointment comes under the Central Staffing Scheme and will be for a tenure of four years from the date she assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Ms. Harleen Kaur brings with her over a decade of rich administrative experience across varied roles in the AGMUT cadre, including postings in Union Territories and North-Eastern states. Her proven track record in public service delivery, policy implementation, and inter-governmental coordination makes her a valuable addition to the Ministry.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) is a critical infrastructure ministry responsible for the development and maintenance of national highways, regulation of motor vehicles, promotion of road safety, and formulation of transport policies in India. As Deputy Secretary, Ms. Kaur is expected to play an instrumental role in supporting the Ministry’s key priorities such as strengthening road infrastructure, enhancing public transport systems, leveraging technology for smarter mobility, and advancing road safety initiatives.
Her appointment aligns with the Central Government’s ongoing strategy to deploy capable and motivated officers to key policy-making roles, especially in ministries directly involved in national infrastructure development and public welfare.
