The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major reshuffle of its national organisation under party president Nitin Nabin, bringing several experienced leaders back into key positions while inducting new faces.
Former Union minister Smriti Irani has been appointed national general secretary, while former BJP general secretary Ram Madhav has returned as a national vice-president. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has been named the party’s national treasurer.
The BJP has announced 65 office-bearers, including 51 new faces. The new team also includes former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje as national vice-president and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb as national general secretary.
B. L. Santhosh has been retained as national general secretary (organisation), while Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal have retained their positions as national general secretaries.
The party has also changed its digital leadership, with Deepak Mhaskey replacing Amit Malviya as the head of the BJP’s IT department. Anil Baluni continues as media in-charge.
The reshuffle comes as the BJP prepares for upcoming Assembly elections and seeks to strengthen its organisation through a combination of experienced leaders, younger faces and wider regional representation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the new team, saying it brings together organisational experience, energy and grassroots connect.
