New Delhi, July 15, 2025 — The Government of India has approved the extension of additional charge of Shri Robert Ravi Jerard as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) for a second term.
Shri Jerard, who currently serves as Director (Finance) at BSNL, has been entrusted with the continued additional responsibility of steering both BSNL and MTNL during a critical phase of transformation and modernization in the telecom sector. His extended tenure reflects the government’s confidence in his leadership capabilities and strategic vision.
With decades of experience in financial management and public sector governance, Shri Jerard has been instrumental in driving reforms and operational efficiency within BSNL. Under his leadership, both BSNL and MTNL have undertaken key initiatives aimed at enhancing service quality, financial sustainability, and digital infrastructure expansion.
The extension of his additional charge is expected to ensure continuity in policy execution and strengthen the coordination between BSNL and MTNL as they play a pivotal role in India’s telecom and digital inclusion goals.
