In a landmark move, Lucknow is set to become India’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) City, backed by a ₹10,732 crore allocation under the IndiaAI Mission, approved in March 2024.
The initiative includes the setup of an AI Innovation Centre, 10,000 GPUs, multi-modal language models, and an AI-based traffic management system. A draft AI policy aligned with Vision 2047 will soon be unveiled by the state government.
This project is part of a larger effort to position Uttar Pradesh as a national IT and innovation hub, with ongoing programs like AI Pragya, which is training over 10 lakh youth, officials, and farmers in AI, data analytics, and cybersecurity in partnership with Microsoft, Intel, Google, and Guvi.
Statewide adoption of AI-powered surveillance, governance tools, land record systems, and agricultural technologies is already underway.
The initiative also includes India’s first AI-based breast cancer screening centre in Fatehpur and Jarvis AI monitoring systems in 70 prisons.
