Sanjay Jaju Assumes Charge as Chief Secretary of Telangana

Governance Veteran Takes Charge as Telangana’s Top Bureaucrat

Hyderabad: Senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju has assumed charge as the Chief Secretary of Telangana, taking over the state’s highest bureaucratic position. His appointment marks a significant leadership transition in the Telangana administration as the state continues to focus on technology-driven governance, digital public services, infrastructure development, and citizen-centric administration.

Jaju succeeds K. Ramakrishna Rao, who retired after serving the state administration through a crucial phase of governance and development.

Extensive Experience in Governance and Public Administration

A seasoned IAS officer with decades of administrative experience, Jaju has held several key positions across state and central government institutions.

Currently serving as Additional Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Defence Production under the Ministry of Defence, he has played an important role in policy implementation, infrastructure development, and strategic government initiatives.

Over the years, he has built extensive expertise across digital governance, public administration, infrastructure development, urban management, education, food security, tribal welfare, and economic development.

Key Role in Digital Governance and IT Transformation

One of the defining chapters of Jaju’s career was his tenure as Secretary, Electronics, IT and Communications Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

During this period, he played a pivotal role in promoting information technology investments and leveraging digital technologies to improve governance and public service delivery. His work contributed to strengthening technology-enabled administration and enhancing citizen access to government services.

His experience in driving digital transformation is expected to support Telangana’s continued focus on innovation-led governance and public sector modernization.

Leadership Across Infrastructure and Urban Development

Jaju has also held leadership positions in several major infrastructure and urban development organizations.

As Director of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), he contributed to the development of strategic infrastructure projects across India’s northeastern and border regions.

His administrative experience further includes serving as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam, and Collector and District Magistrate of West Godavari district.

These assignments helped him build extensive expertise in urban administration, infrastructure planning, public-private partnerships, and civic governance.

Leading Telangana’s Administrative Agenda

As Chief Secretary, Jaju will play a central role in coordinating government departments, driving policy implementation, supporting development priorities, and ensuring effective public service delivery across Telangana.

His appointment comes at a time when states across India are increasingly focusing on digital governance, citizen services, infrastructure expansion, and administrative efficiency to support economic growth and inclusive development.

With his strong background in governance, technology, and public administration, Jaju is expected to guide Telangana’s administrative machinery through its next phase of growth and transformation.
