Suzlon Appoints Ajay Kapur as Group CEO in Major Leadership Overhaul

Renewable energy major Suzlon Energy has appointed Ajay Kapur as Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective February 24, 2026, as part of its ‘Suzlon 2.0’ vision to evolve into a full-stack renewable solutions provider beyond wind energy. The company also elevated J P Chalasani to the newly formed Group Executive Council (GEC) and appointed Girish Vanvari as an Independent Director for five years.
Kapur, with over 36 years in cement, construction, power, and heavy metals, previously served as Managing Director at Ambuja Cements (Adani Group). An economics graduate, MBA from K.J. Somaiya, and Wharton alumnus, he will report to Chairman & Managing Director Vinod Tanti, driving transformation, scaling, and sustainable growth across wind, solar, BESS, and emerging tech.
Chalasani joins the GEC to shape strategy alongside Chairman Vinod Tanti and Executive Vice Chairman Girish Tanti, retaining Key Managerial Personnel status. The GEC will set enterprise priorities, portfolio strategy, and capital allocation; an Executive Management Council under Kapur will handle operations.
Girish Tanti called it a “phenomenal juncture,” praising Kapur’s scaling expertise for the diversification push. Kapur expressed honor in contributing to global energy transition at scale. This structured succession ensures continuity amid Suzlon’s 21.5 GW global installations.
