AI Impact Summit 2026 Concludes with New Delhi Declaration on AI for Global Good

The AI Impact Summit 2026, held in New Delhi on 18–19 February, concluded with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact, a landmark document endorsed by 89 countries and international organisations to guide the global development and use of artificial intelligence for economic growth and social good. Rooted in the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (welfare for all, happiness for all), the declaration affirms that AI’s benefits must be shared equitably across humanity while respecting national sovereignty.
The declaration frames AI as a historic inflection point and calls for deeper international cooperation and multistakeholder engagement around seven core “Chakras” (pillars): development of human capital, broadening access for social empowerment, ensuring trustworthiness of AI systems, improving energy efficiency of AI, using AI in science, democratizing AI resources, and leveraging AI for economic growth and social good. These pillars are intended to complement existing international efforts and build a shared understanding of how AI can best serve people worldwide.
A key focus is democratizing AI resources through robust digital infrastructure, affordable connectivity, and wider access to foundational AI tools, guided by the voluntary Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI. For economic growth and social good, the declaration highlights the role of open-source and accessible AI approaches, supported by the Global AI Impact Commons, to help replicate and scale successful use cases across regions.
On security and trust, participants acknowledge the need for secure, robust AI grounded in appropriate policy frameworks and technical safeguards, and take note of the voluntary Trusted AI Commons, a shared platform of tools, benchmarks, and best practices. To advance science, they support the International Network of AI for Science Institutions, aimed at pooling AI research capabilities across borders. The declaration also stresses AI for social empowerment via collaborative platforms to share knowledge and scalable practices, and prioritises human capital development through AI education, workforce training, and a playbook and guiding principles for skilling and reskilling in the age of AI.
Recognising AI’s growing demands on energy and infrastructure, the declaration endorses voluntary Guiding Principles on Resilient, Innovative and Efficient AI, along with a playbook on resilient AI infrastructure. Signatories express commitment to continue cooperation so that these shared aspirations translate into concrete action, positioning AI as a driver of a prosperous, people-centric future.
